This page is to help inform you of some not-so-well known facts about Deer Hunter the 2005 Season. Most hunters that have been hunting DH05 for a while now know these little facts, but to someone who's new to the game just may benefit from this. So, here you go!

On this page you'll find:
-Rare Deer
-Gold Weapon Skins
-Record Book & World Record deer scoring
-Hunter Score

.

Rare Deer

There are 5 types of 'rare' deer to be found in Deer Hunter the 2005 Season. They are listed below with a description. Check the Record Book for pictures of these deer.

-Albino The Albino is only found in the Whitetail deer species. An Albino can be a Buck, Doe, or Fawn. Albino's are probably the most common rare deer that hunters find, however this may be just due to the fact that a great deal of hunters hunt Whitetail most of the time. An Albino is very easily noted to in fact be an Albino right away because it has a completely white coat, pink nose, red eyes, gray (sometimes pink) hooves, and brown antlers. There is no bonus points for bagging a rare deer that we are aware of, unless of course you have a low hunter rank and are building points, or it is a Record Book or World Record, in that case you'll get your points as usual. I've heard rumor that Albino's have been bagged in other deer species on Deer Hunter 2005, but I have not seen proof of this.

-Blonde The Blonde deer seems to be more rare than the Albino. This rare is also only found in the Whitetail group. A Blonde deer has a very light blonde coat, with brown eyes.

-Branded You will find the Branded deer in all the deer species on Deer Hunter 2005. However, the brand will not be on the same hip in each species, so be sure to get a look at both sides if you can! The brand is located in either the right or left rear hip, near the top, much like a cattle brand. The Brand is a SLS logo for Southlogic Studios. It has a triangle with SLS on it. This brand is viewed backwards on some deer. Branded deer can be Bucks or Does.

-Fat Fat deer are also found in all the deer species. These are very notice-able deer. It is not the weight of the deer that qualifies them as 'fat' rather it's a very large 'pot belly' that makes them look very pregnant! Fat deer can be Bucks or Does. **Note** When you bag a Fat deer and view it in the trophy room, it may not appear 'fat'. Export your deer and view them using the Trophy Viewer.

-Cartoon The Cartoon is only found in the Whitetail Doe. She is very obvious when you see her, she looks like a lite tan sketch of a doe. She walks and acts like a regular DH05 Doe.

-Jackalope The Jackalope is a Jackrabbit with a set of antlers. Can't bag these guys, but you can get alot of great pictures. They are found on any map that has Jackrabbits on it. These are very noticable - they have a very impressive rack!

Rare Deer Myths: Rare's are only found on the orignal 5 DH maps = not true.

Gold Weapon Skins

There is a Gold Weapon Skin for every weapon in the DH05 game. In order to recieve a gold skin, you must kill a certian number of BUCKS (does do not count) before you get your Gold Skin. When you earn one, a message will pop up saying something like 'Congratulations! You have just earned a Gold Weapon Skin!' Go to your Custom Weapons area, and find the weapon you were hunting with and when you're flipping through the options on the new weapon you'll see a gold trim option. When you have earned all of the Gold Weapon Skins you will recieve a trophy in your trophy room, and a bonus point.

Here is a rough guideline for how many bucks per weapon:

Long Bow: 10-12
Recurve Bow: 10-12
Compound Bow: 12-14
Cross Bow: 14-16
Magnum Revolver: 12-14
Double Barrel Shotgun: 20-22
Pump Shotgun: 20-22
Single Shot Pistol: 20-22
Muzzleloader: 22-24
Autoloader: 25-28
Lever Rifle: 30-32
Single Shot Rifle: 30-32
Pump Rifle: 30-32
Bolt Rifle: 30-32

Hunter Score

Your Hunter Score, or Rank, is based on the average of your last 40 bucks, with your biggest 10 ever. So while it will keep going up and up in the beginning, it may start to peak if you continue to shoot low scoring bucks, with the same weapon. To get your score really high you need to shoot large bucks (Record Book class, but with World Record being preferred) and use more difficult weapons like the bows and handguns. Also take the scope off your rifle. You get more points for a scopeless shot, and also for a clean kill - Make those shots count!

The highest your hunter can go is 160. That's the Champ Hunter. If you continue to use that hunter once you reach that point, be aware that only World Records and hard weapons will keep you up there.
